Lewis Lands Colorado Offer
Sammamish (Wash.) Eastlake cornerback Ryan Lewis was a bit of an unknown heading into the season. With an offer from Colorado Monday night, that all changed. "It was sudden," said Lewis. "I guess there was a scout at the game last week and he talked to Coach and told him I was going to get offered. I got the call last night." Lewis plays running back and cornerback for Eastlake, currently undefeated and ranked among the top teams in state. He is comfortable playing either position in college and Colorado has already made their plans clear. "They want me to play cornerback," said Lewis. "That is fine with me, I am just happy to get onto the field anywhere I can." In addition to Colorado, Lewis has been hearing from programs all over the country. "I have been hearing from Oregon State, Washington State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia," said Lewis. "I am from the Pittsburgh area so that is the connection there." "I grew up as a fan of Arizona and UCLA," said Lewis. "I went on unofficial visits to both schools this summer." Lewis is an athletic player that has great physicality and ball skills; however he believes his biggest strength is a mental aspect of his game. "I think that my best attribute is my will to compete," said Lewis. "We always say get after it on my team." Lewis is just breaking on to the recruiting radar and doesn't plan on making his decision anytime soon. "I am working on setting up an official visit with Colorado, but I don't know the date," said Lewis. "I am going to be patient and see what offers I get, and then talk about it with my Dad and coaches." Jake Worthen is a West Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com.
