No. 1 Breaux Bridge and WR Travin Dural easily handled a St. Martinville squad that entered last week's contest on a four-game win streak. What's happening around the state in Class 4A? Read further for an in-depth look.

1. BREAUX BRIDGE (1) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated St. Martinville, 42-7. After beginning the year ranked No. 2 (behind Edna Karr), Breaux Bridge has now occupied the number one slot for five consecutive weeks. The Tigers took the air out of St. Martinville's sails, despite playing without senior LB/RB Lamar Louis (ankle). Louis is day-to-day and could return this week. Travin Dural caught a TD pass from fellow LSU commit Kavahra Holmes on a gadget play (Holmes is a WR) to give Breaux Bridge an early 7-0 lead. QB Randall Menard returned to action for the first time since injuring his non-throwing hand a few weeks ago. This week: at Teurlings Catholic (3-3)

2. NEVILLE (2) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated Bastrop, 23-6. Neville has kept four of six opponents in single-digits. Four-star junior John Diarse ran for 170 yards and two TDs vs. Bastrop, which features four-star senior end/linebacker Denzel Devall on defense. Senior LB/FB Ricky Wyatt was money on multiple fourth-and-short carries out of the backfield, according to Marq Mitcham of the Bastrop Daily Enterprise. Senior Jamond Collins has been effective on punt returns for head coach Mickey McCarty. This week: West Ouachita (2-4)

3. ST. THOMAS MORE (3) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Cougars defeated Teurlings Catholic, 27-24. STM has won its last two games by a total of six points. Senior Matt Flores ran for 173 yards and a pair of scores. He also caught a 22-yard pass. Junior QB Brandon Bergeron has hooked up with WR Andrew Stevenson on numerous long pass plays this fall. The Cougars play the first of three straight road games this week. In week eight, they'll face Breaux Bridge. Players to watch: TE Jordan Murray, OL Will McMillan. This week: at No. 9 Northside (4-2)

4. LUTCHER (4) -- (5-1) -- Last week, the Bulldogs defeated Istrouma, 56-6. Lutcher has won five in a row after losing to 5A No. 2 Dutchtown in week one. Three-star RB Daniel Taylor gained 117 yards on a mere five carries with a touchdown. Taylor has 871 yards on the year. Three-star CB Jordan Batiste is committed to Ole Miss. This week: at No. 7 St. Michael (6-0)

5. ASSUMPTION (6) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Mustangs defeated Ellender Memorial, 47-0. Chris Johnson ran for two first-quarter touchdowns, according to Mike Wagenheim of bayoupreps.com. Assumption outgained Ellender, 507-16. QB Hunter Gauthreaux threw a trio of TD passes and finished with 207 yards on only five completions. This week: No. 10 South Terrebonne (5-1)

6. BELLE CHASSE (8) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Cardinals defeated Archbishop Shaw, 26-7. QB Asphen Gaines accounted for 213 yards passing, while S/RB Quadry Antoine (Mississippi State commit) ran for two touchdowns. According to Mike Strom of the (New Orleans) Times-Picayune, this is the best start ever for the Cardinals during the Bob Becnel tenure. This week: Edna Karr (3-3)

7. ST. MICHAEL (7) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Warriors defeated Belaire, 38-20. St. Michael stayed unbeaten by rallying from a 20-10 deficit, according to Cory Boudreaux of the (Baton Rouge) Advocate. QB Dash Duncan threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns. This week. No. 4 Lutcher (5-1)

8. EAST JEFFERSON (10) -- (3-2) -- Last week, the Warriors defeated Warren Easton, 28-19. On the season, QB Eugene Wells has 613 yards rushing on 68 carries with eight TDs. Four-star CB Derrick Raymond is committed to LSU. This week: Riverdale (4-1)

9. NORTHSIDE (NR*) -- (4-2) -- Last week, the Vikings defeated Cecilia, 28-7. Who is hotter than Northside? The Vikes have been victorious in four straight contests after losses to 5A powers Acadiana and Carencro. Kevin Jackson ran for 156 yards and two TDs. Junior SS Orlando Calhoun (pictured below) is a leader on defense. This week: No. 3 St. Thomas More

10. SOUTH TERREBONNE (NR) -- (5-1) -- Last week, the Gators defeated Vandebilt Catholic, 60-6. South Terrebonne bounced back strong following a week five setback to East Jefferson. Jacquis Flores ran for 111 yards and a TD. He has 701 yards on 70 rushes this year. This week: at No. 5 Assumption

DROPPED OUT: O.P. Walker (2-2), St. Martinville (4-2)

ON THE BUBBLE: McDonogh #35 (3-3), Karr (3-3), St. Augustine (3-3)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Melvin Jones, Washington-Marion. For the first time, one player is named as both the offensive and defensive player of the week. Jones, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound junior, played QB and LB for the Charging Indians last week. He threw for 105 yards, ran for 120 more, and registered 15 tackles.
