On a huge line in Summerville (SC), one of the top is 6-foot-4, 275 pound Brian Baker.
"I am benching 370 pounds, squatting 525 pounds, and trying to get better for this year," says Baker, who helped lead his team to a berth in the state semi-finals before losing to Irmo. "We are returning a lot of talent, so we expect to get to the state championship this year."
Another of Baker's goals includes earning a scholarship offer, which at the point has yet to happen.
"I like South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, probably Maryland, and Duke, but nobody is talking about scholarships yet. I met a couple of coaches during our spring practices, and they seemed really nice. I kinda like the two in-state schools the best right now."
While the Gamecocks and Tigers lead the way and he will visit the second summer camp and first summer camp for each team respectively, Baker says he wants several things from his choice in schools.
"I want to play for a good football program and also where they have good academics, so I can have something to rely on if I need it."
