(Wharton, NJ) October 19, 2011 – Byron Marshall of Valley Christian High School, San Jose, CA, has been selected to play in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, joining an elite group of All-Americans. Those selected will play in the game on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The annual East vs. West match-up will be televised live on NBC at 1:00 p.m. EST and will be presented by American Family Insurance. The game will feature the nation’s top 90 high school football players.
“Byron is a talented athlete whose leadership and teamwork qualities have made him a standout at Valley Christian High School,” said John Myers, Director of Strategic Communications, Marketing and Outreach, U.S. Army Accessions Command. “Only the strongest wear the Army colors, and Byron possesses similar mental, emotional and physical strengths to Army Strong Soldiers. We are proud to honor all of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl players and congratulate each of them on their selection.”
The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder bolsters an impressive roster for the U.S. Army All-American contest. Marshall is currently rated as the #20 running back in the country by Scout.com, making him a 3-star prospect.
Marshall is considering offers from schools like Notre Dame, Arizona State, Oregon and Oregon State amongst others.
Scout Eval: "A safety and wingback for his Valley Christian team, Marshall excels on the offensive side of the ball. He runs a lot of sweeps out of VC's wing based attack and he has good vision and patience as he sets up his blocks before bursting through a hole. He has very quick feet capable of making tight, quick cuts in traffic. While he's not a power back, he has good enough balance to bounce off of arm tackles if he's not wrapped up" - Scott Kennedy
