Mike's Take: Wake Forest DB commit
What to Like: Dominique Gibson is one of the best defensive players on a Glades Central team that reached the state title game last season and could be on its way back there this season. He's very active and uses good instincts to make a lot of plays. He finished last season with 100 tackles and eight sacks. He is disruptive and knows how to make big things happen on that side of the ball. He's a playmaker who is coming from one of south Florida's top prep programs. What may concern you: At 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, he lacks ideal size to be an outside linebacker at the college level. He will likely play safety, the spot he was recruited for. Can he make a smooth transition to playing back there full time at the college level? It'll be a big adjustment, considering how often he's played near the line in high school. Bottom Line: Gibson committed to Wake Forest while also having offers from schools like East Carolina, Kentucky, Marshall, and Vanderbilt. Recruited like a low three-star, Gibson gives the Deacons a quality prospect from a quality program.
