The Dawgs saw Bauta work out at their camp early in the summer and that is when they offered him a scholarship. They like what he can do on the field.
"Georgia offered me as an athlete and I still think they are offering me as an athlete, but they have talked to me about quarterback some too. I have been talking to Coach [Kirk] Olivadotti the most and I have talked to Coach [Mike] Bobo a good bit too. Georgia has been on me steady since they offered me and I am ready to see what it is like up there on game-day."
The Dawgs are one of a handful of schools still in the mix for 6-foot-3, 220 pound senior out of Dwyer.
"I visited UCF a little while ago just to see what it was like, so I am still looking at them. They are recruiting me hard, so them, Purdue, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Alabama, and West Virginia along with Georgia are the main schools I am looking at right now."
He doesn't have any other official visits set up yet, but he knows he needs to act quickly because he is set to graduate early.
"I am hoping to have a big month of December. I want to win a state championship and then make my college choice the week after that. There would be no better way to do it than that.
"I know I have to squeeze my visits in because of me graduating early, so it is going to be tough around games, playoffs, and all that, but it will work out."
The main thing Bauta is looking for is just a chance. He just wants a chance to play quarterback.
"All the schools have been pretty straight with me about playing quarterback and I trust them. I know Georgia called me an athlete first, but they have talked about some quarterback with me too, so that is very important for me.
"The only position I want to play is quarterback. I just want a chance, I feel I can do it, and that is the only position I am thinking about."
Although it is late in the process for this three-star out of Palm Beach, Fla., he recently sent out senior video to over 50 schools to show what he can do. If an offer comes in before he commits to someone, he will take a look at that school.
Dwyer is currently 7-1.
