Updates on some uncommitted seniors and where juniors will be visiting this weekend.

News and Notes

  • Chicago Simeon (Ill.) five-star offensive tackle Jordan Diamond picked up an offer from Alabama this week. The 6'6, 290-lb Diamond said it was "something to think about." No word on if he will visit Tuscaloosa. He recently visited Iowa.

  • Osseo (Minn.) tight end Will Johnson told Scout that everything is holding steady. In the last month, he has added offers from Kansas, Illinois and UCF, but Ohio State, Oregon and West Virginia are schools that may add to his list soon. He says a decision is not imminent and he will wait until after the season and his visits are taken.

  • Holland (Mich.) linebacker Nathan Ricketts has a big playoff game on Saturday against Zeeland East, a contest Scout will be at. He says right now, recruiting is a "waiting game," for him. He recently visited Toledo on October 22nd and plans a return trip to Illinois on November 12th. The Illini have not offered yet, but are showing strong interest.

  • Chicago Harlan (Ill.) 2013 OL Ki-jana Evans says he is now hearing from West Virginia, Utah and Ohio State. The 6'5, 280-lb junior recently visited Northern Illinois.

  • Providence Catholic (Ill.) 2013 LB Brian Fordon says Bowling Green was in his school this week and invited him to their junior day. He visited Illinois a few weeks back a well. He finished the season with over 100 tackles, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups while carrying a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.

  • All-Star Game Updates: 2013 Notre Dame commitment Steven Elmer, a left tackle from Midland (Mich.) has received information for next year's Under Armour All-American game. It is not yet an official selection, but the 6'6, 300-lb junior is on the short list of candidates for the contest.

Northwestern commitment Malin Jones has been added to the roster of the Semper Fidelis All-American Game.

Detroit Cass Tech (Mich.) cornerback Terry Richardson has been added to the roster of the USA verses the World game. He joins fellow Michigan commit Devin Funchess on the roster.

  • Weekend Visit Updates:

Indianapolis Pike (Ind.) 2013 DE David Kenney will be at Iowa.

Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) 2013 CB Cameron Burrows will be at Alabama. Houston Cy-Ridge (Tex.) 2013 OT David Dawson, formerly of Cass Tech, will also be at the game.

Manchester (Mich.) 2013 QB Nate Bossory will visit Florida this weekend. He says a visit to Eastern Michigan is likely for the following week.

Detroit Crockett (Mich.) 2013 CB/RB Desmond King will be at Michigan State this Saturday.

  • Offers/Commitments
  • Sandusky (Ohio) DT Mike Brown committed to Eastern Michigan. The 6'3, 295-lb Brown impressed us this summer at Michigan State's camp. With the Eagles graduating several defensive linemen, he is a candidate for early playing time.

  • Toledo Central Catholic (Ohio) safety Jayme Thompson has received an offer from West Virginia.

  • Cincinnati has offered Moeller junior running back Keith Watkins according to Simone Scott.

  • Northern Iowa, Nicholls State and Western Illinois have all offered Hamilton Heights (Ind.) senior WR Logan Cunningham.

  • Eastern Michigan has offered Birmingham Seaholm (Mich.) senior linebacker Sterling Johnson.

    Sleeper of the Week

Everyone knows about Rochester (Ill.) quarterback Wes Lunt, but one of his top targets, Zachary Grant, is putting together an outstanding season. He has 1,611 yards (unofficially 3rd in the nation behind Dorial Green-Beckham and Gehrig Dieter) on 95 receptions and 20 touchdowns. Last Friday, in a Rocket playoff win, Grant had 10 receptions for 239 yards and three touchdowns.

    Underclassman of the Week

Ithaca (Mich.) High had the state's top quarterback prospect last year in Alex Niznak, who ended up at Central Michigan. He left big shoes to fill, but sophomore Travis Smith has not missed a beat. The 6'1, 180-lb youngster has the Yellowjackets undefeated while completing nearly 70% of his passes for 1,397 yards and 16 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Niznak beat a lot of teams with his feet too, and so does Smith. He's rushed for 772 yards on only 93 carries and has an astounding 19 touchdowns on the ground. He's definitely one to watch for the future.
