Santa Monica (Calif.) offensive tackle Chad Wheeler recaps USC trip and reveals where he will be…
Wheeler's Plan For The Season
Santa Monica (Calif.) offensive tackle, Chad Wheeler had a dramatic start to the season. Originally committed to Arizona State, Wheeler later changed his commitment to USC after they offered him in September. "I felt really comfortable with Arizona State at first because I went to their camp and was in contact a lot with their coaches. But I also went to USC's camp as well and grew up a Trojan fan. It was always my dream school. It's just great, I have been there many times so I know that college better than any other. I feel like that's the best place for me," said Wheeler. Wheeler jumped onto USC's recruiting radar after preforming at their Rising Stars Camp this summer. "I attended their camp this summer, which is when they started to talk to me, but I also had to prove my performance on film, as well, and send them the clips of my first two games of the season," said Wheeler. "After seeing those clips, they offered me." Wheeler discussed his relationship with USC's coaching staff. "Ever since I committed to USC, I have had a good relationship with the coaches. We have been in contact a lot," said Wheeler. "I will be going to USC for my official visit during the last weekend of December. Since I am committed there, they want me to take all my other visits first." Although, Wheeler sounds happily committed to USC, he talked about the other football programs he is excited to see in person. "I am not 100%, but I am excited about USC and I am looking forward to the opportunity to see other programs in person. I am planning on taking officials to Arizona State, California, Colorado, Iowa State and USC," said Wheeler. Even though Wheeler decommitted from Arizona State, there doesn't seem to be any hard feelings, since he is still planning to take a trip there. "I guess it might be a little awkward, but I still like the coaches over there and the system at Arizona State," said Wheeler. "While on my officials, I want to see the area and find out where I will be comfortable for the next four or five years." Wheeler talked about where he is headed for his first trip. "I think my first official trip will be to Colorado. It's a beautiful area. I spent a couple years of my life there. Also my grandmother and my great grandmother live there," said Wheeler.
