Wisconsin is known as a land of big linemen and class of 2013 offensive tackle Dan Bell certainly fits that mold at 6'6, 275-lbs. Schools are becoming increasingly interested in the junior prospect and he recently began taking visits.
"So far I've been invited to Indiana, the Hoosiers. I was able to attend that one. It was a great experience. Probably my favorite so far."
It was not just one aspect of the visit that made IU stand out, but a combination of elements that came together to make Bell feel at home.
"Well, I really liked their facilities. Their hospitality there was great. Seeing the indoor field, outdoor field, weight room as well as the academic, student-athlete resources that were there that they had recently put in and basically the feel of the school set me off right."
Bell was also invited to Kalamazoo, Michigan, but says he did not make it.
"The second one was Western Michigan and I actually wasn't able to attend that one. I had surgery on my appendix, so I was unable to make it to that."
Then there are a couple of non-FBS schools that Bell has heard and seen good things from.
"Just this past weekend I was invited by Coach Kelly to Georgetown University and I toured a lot of their academic facilities and got to see their whole philosophy on things and they talked to us briefly on things, academics, athletics and what their school wanted as a student athlete there. The coach from North Dakota State has not gotten back to me but I'm waiting on the itinerary and follow up on invite this coming weekend there."
In two weeks, Bell will head to South Bend, a trip he says he is quite excited for.
"Notre Dame just invited me up, two weekends from now, on the 19th. It's probably one of the biggest honors to get invited to. They are by far one of my top five favorite schools."
