5A-D1
The Pick: Euless Trinity
The Road: The Trojans should come in to the playoffs hungry after falling short one year ago. Many believe a potential second round match-up with Allen is the game many think the State Title could be decided, but whoever comes out of that game still has to possibly play Arlington Martin and DeSoto or Dallas Skyline before even getting to the final. It is a tough road, but without the pressure of being #1 in the country on its shoulders Trinity can make it happen.
4A-D1
The Pick: Lake Travis
The Road: The “Drive for Five” is in full swing and the team has the offense, defense and coaching to make that dream a reality. Denton Ryan, Highland Park, Angleton and Frenship also come in unbeaten, but some think Pearland Dawson ay 8-2 could be the most deadly team to face. Still it will be tough to knock the Travis train from its tracks.
5A-D2
The Pick: Katy
The Road: The 5A-D1 bracket is tough at the top, but D2 is going to be the most fun to watch week in and week out and there are realistically about 10 teams who could win it, but katy has been #1 all year. They do not get tested as much in district as some of the other top teams and that is what makes it so interesting. Last year's champ Cibolo Steele has passed all the tests and PA Memorial is battle tested. Longview just knocked of a D1 favorite and anyone that takes Lufkin lightly will likely be surprised.
4A-D2
The Pick: Aledo
The Road: Aledo lost two of its first three games and many people wrote them off at that point, but now the defense has had some time to come together and gel. The defensive backs will get tested often, but the offense should be good enough to put the points on the board. Brenham and Manvel could have something to say about it all. Brenham comes in to the playoffs as the highest rated team in 4A-D2. An Aledo versus Brenham game would be a whole lot of fun to watch.
