Parson Still Seeing Orange
6-foot2, 215-pound outside linebacker and running back Darius Parson (Woodbridge, VA) remains a solid verbal commit to Syracuse University. However, the school has been telling some of the recruits that spots are quickly filling up in the class. His coach at Woodbridge, Kevin Jones, told scout.com that he is hearing the same thing. "I did speak with coach (Rob) Moore, but he didn't say that Darius was off of the table," Jones said. The situation is a bit cloudy from all standpoints, but the rumors have included several linebacker an running back prospects being told the class is "filled up." Still, Parson, according to his coach, remains very interested in the Orange and it would take plenty from other interested schools to make a late push. In an interview with Scout.com in October, Parson said that West Virginia, North Carolina State, Boston College and Old Dominion were still actively recruiting him although there weren't scholarship offers on the table just yet. "There is a possibility of (no spots) down the road, but it's nothing definitive right now," Jones said. "With the recent developments (at SU), he's going to be a little more open, but there's nothing out there as of right now." "He sure likes Syracuse, but he listens to other people when they talk too." The coach also admitted that the senior does not have his recruitment at the forefront now that the season is over. Instead, Parson has been fulfilling his needs in the classroom. "Darius has been working on getting his grades up, taking (additional) classes and making sure he's ready to go (with the NCAA Clearinghouse)," Jones said. And when coach Jones did mention what would happen once the college football season is over, he again eluded to Parson sticking with SU barring a major development. "His main concern is keeping his grades up to honor the loyalty that Syracuse showed him (by offering him before any other school) in the recruiting process," Jones added.
