As a junior, Juist connected on nine field goal attempts with a long of 57 yards. He was also good on 33-of-36 extra point attempts, including eight-of-eight in one contest and also punted for a 41.5-yard average. A fine athlete, Luke rushed for 32 yards on two fake punts and also had a 50-yard kickoff return. At safety, he had one interception that he returned for 33 yards.
At six-foot-one and 190-lbs, Juist has been clocked at 4.58 in the forty. He also has a 250-lb bench, 320-lb squat, 205-lb power clean and 28-inch vertical leap. An excellent student, Luke carries a 3.2 GPA and plans on majoring in mechanical engineering.
Juist was named 2003 “Top 12 Underclassmen” in the first Annual National Kicking Competition at the Chris Sailer Kicking Camp in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also named 2002 All-Greater Houston Second Team Kicker/Punter by the Houston Chronicle.
Luke did not name a top five, but said his favorite school is the University of Texas. The toughest individual opponent he faced last season was former Jasper and future Texas A&M offensive lineman Jorrie Adams.
Juist was plays soccer and runs track for Jesuit and some of his other hobbies include hunting, country music, fly fishing, backpacking and mountain biking.
