Scout Top 50 - Week 12

There's a new No. 1, and a battle of heavyweights brews in Texas and Washington. See the Scout Top 50 High School Football Teams and the upcoming match-ups.

There's a new No. 1 on the Scout Top 50 as Louisville Trinity (Ky.) takes over the No. 1 spot previously held by Don Bosco Prep (N.J.). Don Bosco Prep is a worthy No. 1, but the body of work that Trinity has put together has been nothing short of astonishing. In addition to blowing out its competition in Kentucky, Trinity has laid waste to the best that Ohio has had to offer including arguably Ohio's best in St. Xavier of Cincinnati. St. Xavier kept the game close at 17-7, the only team to hold the Shamrocks under 35 points this year.

Trinity finished its regular season with a 49-14 beat down of Archbishop Moeller of Cincinnati in a game that was thought to be a real test for the Shamrocks. Trinity has opened its first two rounds of the playoffs with back-to-back shutout wins of 72 and 55 to zero against Kention and Dupont Manual respectively. Next up is St. Xavier of Louisville who was on the wrong end of a 41-6 score against Trinity earlier this season.

Last year, outspoken Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban proposed funding a playoff in college football that would have a national scope. How about Mr. Cuban turns his resources to the prep level? Trinity/Don Bosco National Championship anyone?

Speaking of Dallas, the Longhorn State has wasted little time giving us a battle of heavyweights in the second round of the Texas Statet Playoffs featuring two games involving Scout Top 50 teams going head to head. No. 6 Allen takes on No. 12 Euless Trinity, and No. 17 Skyline takes on No. 37 Desoto. 

The other game featuring two Scout Top 50 teams is in Washington as No. 38 Lakes hopes to derail the freight train that is No. 9 Bellevue. Bellevue has claimed eight State Championships over the course of the last decade.

While those are the three games featuring Scout Top 50 teams going head to head, since we're in the playoffs, there are many more compelling matchups this week including:
