Horton Recaps Mississippi State Visit
"It's always nice to be at Mississippi State," said Tevin Horton, who attended the Bulldogs' game vs. Alabama Saturday evening. "I was at their game against Louisiana Tech, too. The fans are great at Mississippi State. It was the second-largest crowd ever at their stadium, and I enjoyed being a part of that. "Coach (Greg) Knox and Coach (Dan) Mullen remembered me from my last trip. They asked about my season and how I did Friday night. They said it was good to see me out there again." Horton hopes to make another trip to the Magnolia State later this month. I'm planning on going to the Egg Bowl," he said. "Mississippi State is real high on my list of schools. They always show me a lot of respect. You never feel left out there. I love it there." Horton attended the game with teammates Torrey Bell and Duke Riley. Bell, a senior defensive end, is committed to the Bulldogs. "It would be great to play with Torrey and Duke in college," said Horton. "It would be incredible for three Curtis players to be at the same college. "I really do like Mississippi State." Last week, John Curtis -- seeded No. 1 in Class 2A -- thumped No. 32 Dunham to the tune of 56-7. Horton ran for two touchdowns and had a third called back due to a penalty. Through 10 games, Horton - who splits carries with three other backs - has gained 512 yards with seven TDs and is averaging nearly 11 yards per carry. This week, Curtis travels to central Louisiana to face No. 17 Ville Platte (8-3) "Their defense is real athletic and aggressive," said Horton of the Bulldogs.
