Smith Sets Officials
Midlothian(Ill.) Bremen running back David Smith, who holds nearly 20 scholarship offers from programs around the nation, has planned two more trips. The three-star athlete enjoyed his first official visit to Boston College so much, he's eager to take more. The next two schools to receive official visits from the Illinois running back will be Purdue and Iowa. Smith will be in West Lafayette this weekend to watch the Boilermakers take on the Hawkeyes. And he will get a closer look at Iowa when he takes his official visit on December 9th. Smith will not be traveling alone. His mother, Charlotte Tribble, will accompany her son on both trips. "Purdue University was one of my mom's favorites when we went down on an unofficial this summer," Smith shares. The two are eager to learn more about the program. "Purdue shows great interest in me and I feel there is a need for my style of play," Smith explains. "I'm looking forward to getting a feel for the school atmosphere, coaching staff, and bonding with a few players." At the game, the running back will have an opportunity to watch Purdue take on the school that is currently leading Smith's recruitment. "Purdue plays the number one school on my list, so that will be interesting," he says. What is it that attracts Smith to Iowa? "Iowa has one of the craziest fan bases in the country, they have a stable coaching staff, and the opportunity to play early," Smith raves. "And a few of my friends have already committed there." "When I take my official to Iowa it will be to reassure that it's the place for me on all aspects. The main thing that's stopping me from making a commitment is me not wanting to say 'what if'. When I make my commitment, I want to be 100% sure; I will make it with no regrets. Smith is looking forward to learning more about each school during his visits and clarifying his decision in the process.
