WPIAL CLASS AAAA
Central Catholic vs. Upper St. Clair at Chartiers Valley
**Anytime you hear a player in high school is a game time decision, that
usually means he is not playing. Dakota Conwell is a game time decision, as he
is nursing a sprained ankle. USC is good, but I can't pick them without Conwell.
Central Catholic is loaded and if Conwell doesn't play Damion Jones-Moore may
have another 300-yard week.**
PREDICTION: (without Conwell) Central Catholic 28, USC 6 (with
Conwell) Central 21, USC 14
Gateway vs. North Allegheny at Fox Chapel
**Call me crazy here, but I just have a sneaking suspicion that Gateway pulls
off the upset in this game. First, they must find a way to neutralize the best
two-way lineman in the state Patrick Kugler. The Gators are peaking right now and are as hot as
anyone. Next year is supposed to be their year, but this just has upset written
all over it. I'm taking Terry Smith and his group of pups to beat the big
dogs.**
PREDICTION: Gateway 17, North Allegheny 14
WPIAL Class AAA
Montour vs. Central Valley at Ambridge
**Big time players, make big time plays in big time games and they don't get
much bigger than Robert Foster and the games don't get much bigger than this.
Central Valley beat Montour in last years, WPIAL finals and during the season
this year. Pulling off three in a row will be hard, but Central is awfully
tough. This game in my opinion will determine the WPIAL Champion.**
PREDICTION: Central Valley 21, Montour 20
Knoch vs. Franklin Regional at Valley
**This may be the toughest game to predict, but Indiana gave Knoch a game
earlier in the season. Hopewell crushed Indiana, Franklin Regional beat
Hopewell, so using that I would think Franklin Regional would beat Knoch. Both
teams played a less than spectacular regular season schedule. Franklin Regional
has Dane Brown and they seem to throw enough to keep their opponents
off-balance.**
PREDICTION: Franklin Regional 17, Knoch 13
WPIAL Class AA
Aliquippa vs. Greensburg Central Catholic at North Hills
**The Centurions always have a tough squad and they are capable of winning
this game, but Aliquippa just seems to be too athletic this year with too many
weapons.**
PREDICTION: Aliquippa 26, Greensburg Central Catholic 15
Jeannette vs. Seton-LaSalle at Elizabeth Forward
**Seton-LaSalle may be the safe pick here, but I just can't pick against Cox
and Craft. Four-star Demetrious Cox and junior Shavonta Craft are on a mission
to win a title for Jeannette. This should be a very good game, but I'm going
with the Jayhawks.**
PREDICTION: Jeannette 21, Seton-LaSalle 20
WPIAL Class A
Sto-Rox vs. Bishop Canevin at Moon
**Bishop Canevin is unbeaten and they are a tough team, but rarely do you see
a small school team like Sto-Rox loaded with D-I prospects like they are
Deaysean Rippy, Marzett Geter and Dontez Ford just from the senior class alone.
Rox is on a mission and I have anticipated the Rox vs. Clairton battle all year,
so it has to happen.**
PREDICTION: Sto-Rox 34, Bishop Canevin 15
Clairton vs. Rochester at West Allegheny
**Rochester has been the team to beat for a long time, but over the past few
years the Bears have taken that title. Clairton is rolling behind junior Tyler Boyd and it is looking more and more like a much anticipated clash against
Sto-Rox will happen next weekend at Heinz Field.**
PREDICTION: Clairton 32, Rochester 14
City League Championship
University Prep vs. Allderdice at South Stadium
**Both teams are very evenly matched, but one team has Jaylen Coleman and
that is University Prep. Prep must find a way to keep big Tyrique Jarrett out of
the backfield and Patrick Ferguson out of the end zone.**
PREDICTION: University Prep 20, Allderdice 14
