Quinteze Williams Breakdown

DE Quinteze Williams

6'5 270-Pound Defensive End Quinteze Williams checks in from Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek High School:

Head coach Will Muschamp has preached about getting bigger on both sides of the line of scrimmage since his arrival in Gainesville. The Southeastern Conference is a line oriented league and the Gators need bigger bodies on both sides of the ball.

Quinteze Williams plays both sides of the ball but it's at the defensive end position where the Gator coaching staff wants him to play. His development at the defensive end position was hindered a little bit based on him learning the offensive tackle position this season. Williams is a very big defensive end checking in at 6'5 and 270-pounds. He is very athletic and has quick feet for a player with his size. As is the case with every high school player he will need to get stronger to play in the SEC and will go through and adjustment period with the speed in this league. When coach Muschamp talks about getting bigger on the defensive line he is talking about players such as Quinteze Williams. Guys that are big enough to overpower offensive tackles but still have the ability to contain the edge while defending the run.

Williams will provide immediate depth maybe a year sooner than you would normally like but the Gators are in need of big able bodies and that's Williams. He will upgrade the defensive end position from day one. If he can add some strength before August he could be in line for major minutes throughout his freshman campaign. The Gators are still recruiting more than a few defensive end type players and are right on track to bring in a stellar haul at the position and it starts with the Peach State standout Quinteze Williams.
