Hawkins Recaps Texas Official
"I came in and looked at the depth chart and got the campus tour," began the gregarious Donald Hawkins. "The visit went well. The coaches talked to us about the opportunities after football at Texas. They have the Longhorn Network. "They have high expectations at Texas. They want a national championship right now - meaning they want one next year. They expect a national championship next year. If that's what they're about then I'm '100' with it. "Coach Mack Brown and all of the coaches were talking to us. Coach Brown said, 'Son you're going to play immediately. We have confidence in you.'" "Their staff believes the group we had there today can make their team better. There was great hospitality; what more can you ask for?" Hawkins spent considerable time talking with five-star WR Dorial Green-Beckham. "He (DGB) was on his first official visit," said Hawkins. "We're both highly interested in Texas. DGB talked about how he likes Texas and talked about going (signing) there. He also likes Oklahoma. I think that's where he's visiting next." So what's the verdict for Hawkins? "Right now, it's a toss-up with Texas and Oklahoma State," he said. "I probably won't know my decision until after my official visit to Oklahoma State on December 2nd." Hawkins said he also hasn't ruled out Mississippi State, which has recruited him for a long period of time. "That's my home state," he said. Hawkins is currently committed to Oklahoma State.
