As we got into the heart of the playoffs last week, we had carnage all over the
Scout Top 50. A whopping 10 new teams are in replacing teams that were upset all
over the country.
No state to this point has been more topsy-turvy than Texas. No. 3 Katy and No.
6 Trinity were the latest Texas power house programs to be sent packing. Lake
Travis and Skyline continue merrily along, but the Top 10 has been a perilous
place for Texas teams this month.
The biggest upset in the country may have come in the form of Anaheim, Calif.'s
Servite being sent home by a 7-4 Tesoro squad. In the ultra-competitive Southern
Section of Southern California, Servite's loss was Westlake's gain as they move
up to crack the Top 20 for the first time.
It begins to get interesting in the state of Florida this week as we reach round
three and the pretenders have been eliminated. No. 3 Armwood should handle
Gainesville, but No. 12 Miami Norland faces off against No. 14 Glades Central in
Scout's Game of the Week.
No. 21 Grayson of Loganville, Ga. started the season slowly but has gotten it
going late. They'll face a tough challenge in the Semi-Finals from Colquitt
County who booted Camden County from the Scout Top 50 and the playoffs last
week.
