Dorial Green-Beckham, A True No. 1
Dorial Green-Beckham is a Phenom at WR

Dorial Green-Beckham is Scout's No. 1 rated wide receiver and No. 2 overall prospect in the country, but that's only beginning to describe the level of talent he brings to the field and potential he'll bring to one lucky program next year.
At 6'6 and 220 pounds
Dorial Green-Beckham
literally towers over the competition. As the nation's all-time leading receiver, he has jumped over, ran past, and run over the competition at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Mo. as well.
The high school record books are littered with names who never made a dent on the next level, but as Scout's No. 1 ranked wide receiver nationally, we don't expect that fate from Green-Beckham.
If one were running down a checklist of how to build the perfect wide receiver, the end product is going to look a lot like Green-Beckham. The size is a given. He'll de-cleat a linebacker on a block. He has the vertical explosion of the basketball player he is. He has the flexibility and body control to adjust to a ball once he's in the air. He has outstanding hands. He has quick feet that lets him change direction like that of a much smaller player.
He has deceptive, breakaway speed. He's so tall that he's covering three yards per stride and his turnover rate appears slower than a shorter player while he's covering more ground in the same amount of time.
He's among the best wide receivers I've scouted in my 10 years joining the likes of
Calvin Johnson
'04 (
Georgia Tech
'04),
Julio Jones
(
Alabama
'08),
A.J. Green
(
Georgia
'08), and
Robert Woods
(
USC
'10) as my Top 5.
Not all No. 1 receivers are created equally, and Green-Beckham is the best wide receiver prospect to come out of high school since that loaded Class of 2008 and has the potential to have the kind of impact that the other four players mentioned had right away at their respective programs.
As expected, Green-Beckham has his choice of college programs including Alabama,
Arkansas
,
Auburn
,
Florida
,
LSU
,
Missouri
,
Notre Dame
,
Ohio State
,
Oklahoma
,
Oklahoma State
,
Texas
, and USC among others.
See him in action in nearly eight minutes of highlights and thousands of yards in his 2011 Highlights.
