Mike's Take: UCF LB commit
What to Like: Kevis Jones is a talented linebacker prospect from Northeast High in South Florida. At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Jones projects as an outside linebacker at the college level. The most impressive part about his game as a prospect is his overall athletic ability. He has an impressive skillset. He runs very well, showing the ability to go from sideline to sideline really nicely. He can change directions and can become a playmaker on that side of the ball. He's also an offensive weapon and has shown the ability to make things happen in the passing game as either a wide receiver or tight end. What may concern you: Jones tends to rely more on athletic ability than being able to diagnose plays, read keys, and other things like that which go into being a good linebacker. He'll have to become more of a student of the game on that side of the ball. He rushed the passer a lot in high school and will have to show that he can make the adjustment to playing in space all the time. Bottom Line: UCF has put together a solid recruiting class inside the state of Florida this year and Jones is a quality addition to that class. With offers from other schools like West Virginia and Illinois, Jones was recruited like a three-star prospect.
