Powe Updates His Top Five
Lakewood (Calif.) wide receiver Darius Powe took his first official trip of the season to check out Oregon State along with his teammate and Oregon State commit Malik Gilmore. "I had a really good time," said Powe. "It was great getting to meet the coaches and all the players in person. Everyone there treats you like family." Powe talked about what it was like to experience Corvallis with Gilmore. "Going on the trip together made it even more fun. He was introducing me to a bunch of people I hadn't met before," said Powe. While visiting the Beavers, Powe had a chance to talk with several coaches including, Coach (Mike) Riley and Coach (Brent) Brennan. "The coaches told me I could come in and earn a spot," said Powe. "They contact me a lot, the most out of any other program, which makes me feel like they really want me. All the attention they have been giving me has made them at the top of my list." Although the Beavers are high on his list, Powe says he wants to take all five of his official trips before making any big decisions. Powe discussed the other programs he is planning on taking officials to. "I want to take trips to UCLA, California, Washington and Michigan," said Powe. Powe talked about his reaction to the firing of Coach (Rick) Neuheisel and how that has affected his feelings about their program. "It has changed my mind a little, but it might be better for them to get a new offense," said Powe.
