Canes still recruiting WVU commit
Devonte Mathis talked about his senior season that is still going on, after his team won again on Friday night. "I'm leading the team in touchdowns right now," Mathis said. "We're still undefeated and almost at state. We gotta win two more." Mathis, 6-feet and 205 pounds, made an early commitment to West Virginia and talked about the season they're having. "West Virginia is playing good, they're having a great year. I like what the new coaches are doing there a lot. Plus the talks about them moving to the Big 12 is nice too." Despite the commitment, Mathis says several schools are still recruiting him. "Coaches from North Carolina, USC, Florida State, and Miami have been calling me lately," he said. "UNC came to my school, I talked to Coach Williams. He was telling me about their system and how early I can play and stuff. I like them, Miami, a lot of them. I'm still leaning towards West Virginia though." Mathis, who claims a 2.7 GPA and a 26 ACT score, says he has not yet scheduled any visits.
