Scout.com has a quick update on Houston Touchdown Club Dinner, which took place on Thursday night. Plenty of solid athlete and coaches were present. Here are a few quick fire, random notes from the event…

Rhodes is Ready
This past season, the Klein Collins football team made an exit much sooner than they would have liked. And while versatile athlete Shane Rhodes was not too pleased in that as well, he looks forward to the future.

And that future includes a Top 10 program that he gave his verbal commitment to in Boise State. True enough, he is ready to get there, but hoped that he had done a few things before the start of his senior year.

“I can’t wait to get up there. I really wish I had graduated early so that I could get down there and learn the playbook,” Rhodes said. “But when I graduate in June, I will be down there soon.”

#Aggswag Movement
Upon coming into the dinner, this was one of the first things expressed by Klein Forest quarterback and future Texas A&M pledge Matt Davis.

“It’s crazy what is going on with whole coaching thing. We were supposed to come in with the #Aggswag movement,” Davis said.

And while he did not rule that out completely, it felt as though he was anxiously waiting for some news to come out of College Station. A similar feeling came from Dekaney running back Trey Williams, who was firm in saying that his solidarity with the Aggie program was still in play (more to come in an extensive interview later).

Of course, he wants to check out a couple more locations which he plans to visit in the near future. One of those places is Texas Tech. And that makes sense seeing that his older brother, Tyson Williams, will likely be in the starting rotation at receiver next season.

“Man, we are still about the #Aggswag movement. I’ve talked with Mike Matthews, Matt Davis and some of the others and that is still the case,” Williams said. “So for right now, Gig ‘Em.”

Hurt, Brown Could be FCS Bound
Channelview quarterback/athlete Averion Hurts and Katy linebacker Bo Brown both had solid showings in the final years at their respective schools. Both have said that they have been offered, or close to being offered by one or more programs.

For Brown, McNeese State has stepped up with an offered and for Hurts, Henderson State and Lamar is in the mix. Brown is set to visit McNeese while Henderson State will see Hurts. Both of those visits could happen early 2012.

And the winners are…
The winners in the contest were Hightower’s Bralon Addison and Pearland defender Chris Alexander for Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively. Manvel coach Kirk Martin was the Coach of the Year and he will lead his team into battle this weekend against Corpus Christi Calallen. Addison will also be in action against San Antonio Madison. Both games will be at the Alamo Dome on Saturday.

On hand at the Touchdown Club Dinner was the Ralph Cooper, talk show host for KCOH 1430 AM who received the Ron Stone Award for journalist excellence.
