Pittsburg (Calif.) quarterback Malik Watson led the Pirates to the CIF-NCS Semifinals this season, where 20-time champion De La Salle ended their year.
“We had a good run, but they are just on another level,” said Watson.
In his first full season as the starter, Watson has offers from Northern Arizona and Idaho while UNLV, UCLA, Arizona and Washington State are all expressing interest in him.
“A lot of schools that haven’t offered are really high on me and have been hitting me up on Facebook and talking with me,” said Watson. “I’m confident in my abilities so we’ll see what happens.”
Watson is set to visit Idaho officially on January 13th, which would be his first trip, but he’s hoping to fill his January with more weekend visits.
“I’m getting a lot of interest and my film is getting out, so hopefully some more offers come,” said Watson.
Montana has also shown interest in Watson, as well as UC Davis, San Jose State and Fresno State.
Watson has been selected to play in the Cal State Game.
He’s also a baseball player, but football is where he wants to play in college.
“My first love is football and that’s what I want to play first in college,” said Watson, who is fully qualified.
