After announcing his commitment to the Huskies in June, Dwayne Washington the three-star wide receiver out of Cerritos (Calif.) wanted to take an official to confirm his commitment.
“I am 100% committed. I will not be taking any more visits,” said Washington. “I liked it so much up there I might even be going back up there in a month, to hang out with my host Josh Perkins and also bring my friend and quarterback Eric Richardson.”
After having such a positive trip up to Seattle, Washington discussed what he enjoyed most about his visit.
“It was great,” said Washington. “I met up with the coaches, players and some old friends. I also toured campus, had dinner with the team and watched practiced. They also took us to a crab place, showed us the pro-stadium and also the plans for the new Husky Stadium.”
Washington is also excited about where the coaches see him fitting in to their program.
“They want me to come in and play either slot, wide receiver or corner. They also want me on special teams,” said Washington. “I am already training so I will be ready. They are sending me the playbook soon, and I am also going to be hitting the weight room and running track this spring to get ready.”
Another aspect that solidified Washington’s decision to be a Husky was his close connection with their coaching staff.
“Coach Johnny Nansen and Coach Steve Sarkisian said they would be coming back down in a month to check on me,” said Washington. “Coach Sarkisian is a great coach. He gives good speeches whether they win or lose, he always has something positive to say.”
Washington reacted to the news of Coach Demetrice Martin’s move to UCLA.
“I was sad for a moment. But Coach Martin leaving UW doesn’t change anything for me. I wouldn’t go to school solely based on who my recruiter was,” commented Washington.
