A look at the top prospects in the two Cal State All-Star Games this weekend, the Five-Star Game and the Rising Stars Game...

The first California High School All-State Game since the 1990's is returning this week.

Set for December 23rd at Buchanan High School in Fresno, the “Cal-State Game” will feature two games, the “Rising Star Game” at 11 a.m. and the “5-Star Game” at 2 p.m. The 5-Star Game will boast 100 of the top prospects in California while the Rising Star Game will feature 100 rising prospects from the Golden State.

And there will be plenty of talent in both.

Headlining the Rising Star Game for the North are John Wiernicki from Liberty Ranch, a top ten rusher in California, Folsom receiver J’juan Muldrow, Heritage Liberty three-star offensive tackle Kyree Oliver, Redding Enterprise linebacker Alex Henderson and Elk Grove Pleasant Grove cornerback Desmond Lewis, a commit to Air Force.

The South’s top prospects for the Rising Star Game include Moreno Valley Rancho Verde tackle Kevin Shelton, Oxnard Channel Islands tight end Jeremiah Valoaga,  and linebacker Matthew Rowe, both commits to Arizona State, Los Angeles Dorsey receiver Ross Stribling, Spring Valley Mount Miguel defensive lineman Cory Littleton and Long Beach Poly defensive end Alonzo Williams, a Texas A&M commit.

The 5-Star Game will be spilling over in talent, led by the West’s top skill prospect, Sacramento Grant safety Shaquille Thompson, the top-ranked safety nationally by

He’ll be joined by other Scout 300 prospects Zach Kline, the Danville San Ramon Valley quarterback committed to Cal, San Jose Valley Christian running back Byron Marshall, a commit to Oregon, Fresno Washington Union receiver Deontay Greenberry and cornerback Tee Shepard, both Notre Dame verbals, Rocklin Whitney tight end Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick, a USC pledge and uncommitted four-stars Aziz Shittu from Atwater Buhach Colony and Elk Grove Cosumnes Oaks cornerback Marcus Rios.

Other notable Northern selections include Fresno Central quarterback Mike Baker, Fresno San Joaquin Memorial running back Chris Brown, El Dorado Hills Oak Ridge receiver Dylan Collie, a BYU commit, Richmond Kennedy athlete Kenny Walker, a Cal commit, Fresno Bullard tight end Ian Taubler, a UCLA pledge and another UCLA verbal in Bakersfield Ridgeview cornerback Shannon Edwards, Patterson defensive lineman Pio Vatuvei, a USC commit, Washington State verbal Dalen Jones from Woodland and San Jose Leland safety Christopher Santini, a Boise State commit and other uncommitted three-stars like Atwater Buhach Colony center Matt Cochran and Richmond Salesian lineman Freddie Tagaloa.

The South’s roster will be loaded too, with five-star receiver Bryce Treggs from St. John Bosco, a Cal commit, leading the way, and Scout 300 prospects like Inglewood athlete Derrick Woods, Carson receiver Darreus Rogers, a USC commit, Compton Dominguez tackle Lacy Westbrook, a UCLA verbal, Encinitas La Costa Canyon lineman Erik Magnuson, a Michigan commit, Vista Murrieta defensive end Jeremy Castro, a commit to Oregon, Oaks Christian cornerback Ishmael Adams and Compton Dominguez cornerback Brandon Beaver.

Other three-stars from the South include Long Beach Poly receiver Josiah Blandin, an Arizona State commit, Los Angeles Dorsey receiver Jaydon Mickens, SMU verbal Robert Lewis, UCLA commit Raymond Ford from Gardena Serra, Anaheim Servite linebacker Butch Pauu, a BYU commit, Anaheim Servite lineman Travis Averill, a Boise State commit, San Diego State pledge Kwayde Miller from Ramona, Arizona State verbal Dejon Allen from Compton Dominguez, Stanford commit Kodi Whitfield and Boise State commit Chaz Anderson, both from Loyola, Los Angeles Dorsey linebacker Jeremiah Allison and San Jose State commit Christian Tago from Palmdale Highland. will be on hand all week for the Cal-State Game, with practices beginning on December 20th and concluding with the doubleheader on December 23rd at Buchanan High School’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.
