Tulane Offers Powell
"Tulane and FIU are the main two I'm looking at," said Devin Powell. "Those are the main two giving me looks, too. I'm thinking about making my decision next week. Neither one has an edge right now; I'm still thinking about it. "It's great that Tulane hired Coach Johnson. It's an opportunity for them to open the offense up, make their offense better, and make their program better. It's a nice look for them." Last night, Powell led the Orleans Parish squad to victory in the Lake Pontchartrain All-Star Football Classic. "I threw for three TDs and ran for an 80-yard touchdown," he said. "I had 327 passing yards." Teammate Lyn Clark, a junior linebacker, was impressed by Powell's performance in the all-star game. "He tore it up," said Clark. "He threw long touchdown passes to Raymond Jackson (O.P. Walker) and Kedrick Banks (McDonogh #35)." Powell reports offers from Tulane, FIU, ULM, Northwestern State, Jackson State and Howard. As a senior, he helped the Chargers to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. During the regular season, Powell set a school-record by passing for 387 yards and five touchdowns (to five different receivers) versus Higgins.
