CoachSpeak: Davis on Senior
Justin Senior profile "One of the best things about Justin is that he is just 17 years old," said Davis. "He won't turn 18 until the summer. "He still has some growing to do and he will begin to fill that body at more. "He is a great athlete and he has an 82 inch wingspan." While some players learn to play up and down the offensive line, Davis expects Justin to use his length and athleticism to protect his quarterback's blind side. "He will definitely be a left tackle," said Davis. "He's a great pass blocker because he has such good feet. "His size and his feet are his biggest attributes. He will need to work hard, but he has what it takes to be a great player." Coach Davis reports that several schools showed interest in signing the talented offensive lineman and that recruiting hit a peak in the final weeks. "Of course Mississippi State offered him and they were one of several BCS schools who showed him a lot of interest at the end," said Davis. "He had a lot of offers from the MAC schools and some 1-AA programs, but the bigger schools got more serious at the end. "He had offers from Ball State, Akron, Memphis, Indiana State, Bethune-Cookman, Delaware State and a few others. "People were really just beginning to learn about him." Hargrave Offensive line coach Michael McGee sees a high ceiling for Justin. "He had a big learning curve when he got here since he was coming from Canada," said McGee. "He worked real hard and he always had a great attitude. "From the fourth game on he really picked it up and just started getting more and more playing time." From a physical standout, Coach McGee believes Justin has what it takes to be very successful. "He was the fastest lineman we had when we did testing and he was the youngest," said McGee. "He might grow some more. "He's about 6-5, 300 right now and I believe he can be a guy who plays at 315 to 320. "Justin is going to be your prototypical left tackle type. He has great footwork and his wingspan is just unreal." The Hargrave assistant believes Senior's best football is ahead of him. "I know he is going to get down there at Mississippi State and work hard to be a factor in that league," said McGee. "He is a smart player who will do what they ask him to do. "He's a steal, a big one."
