Coach's Take: Memphis' Minnick
He stands at 6-foot-5, 305-pounds, but despite his frame, Markeith Minnick was an under-the-radar player at his high school in Philadelphia, Pa. The Delaware Valley CHS offensive lineman chose to spend a post-graduate year at Hargrave Military Academy to get the exposure he deserved. And it paid off. He bumped up to three-stars and received scholarship offers from Louisville, Memphis, Virginia Tech and Mississippi State. "He was a kid who did not have much exposure-a kid who was under the radar from the Philly area and just didn't get a lot of publicity there," said Hargrave head coach Troy Davis. "When I saw him, I saw a kid with a lot of upside, and he was set to be my starting lineman." A December graduate from Hargrave, following an official visit to Memphis Dec. 16, Minnick was ready to pull the trigger. "He committed with Memphis immediately following his visit, just several weeks ago, and will enroll Jan. 8," said Davis. What is Memphis getting in Minnick? "He has great athleticism in his feet and he does a great job in pass protection," Davis described. Stay on Scout.com for the latest on Minnick.
