California has long been known for producing terrific quarterbacks and that trend isn't likely to stop any time soon. Two rivals separated by a no more than a Tiger Woods drive are home to two of the Golden State's best future arms.
Justin Moore
(5'11/175) of Westlake and
Brandon Dawkins
(6'3/190) of Oaks Christian are members of the Class of 2013 and 2014 respectively. Moore and Dawkins have already faced off twice and are likely to see eachother two more times next year as Westlake and Oaks Christian have faced eachother in the regular season and postseason each of the last two years.
This year Moore and his Westlake team got the better of Oaks Christian on both occasions with Dawkins, but on the field they are each dynamic talents who will be the object of recruiting battles in the coming years.
Moore is the smaller of the two, but he is the better runner. He has a good arm and can throw accurately on the run. Moore rushed for over 1000 yards while passing for nearly 2500 and 27 touchdowns.
Dawkins is bigger in nearly every sense of the word. He has the bigger frame, the bigger arm, and is the stronger inside runner of the two. He threw for nearly 3000 yards and better than 30 touchdowns as a sophomore while adding another 300 on the ground.
Moore and Dawkins are two of California's most promising young quarterback talents, and they'll face off at least one more time in 2012.
Take a look at them in action from their last contest in the CIF-SS Northern Division Championship Game.
