USAAAB 4-Star QB Anthony Alford Update
"I just need to make a lot of adjustments to the play calling and learn the system that the coaches are calling," Anthony Alford said. "I am having a lot of fun being around so much great talent." Alford has narrowed down his schools of interest to Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and LSU. But, a big part of Alford's decision is finding a school that will help him excel in both football and baseball. "I'm going to school to play both football and baseball so LSU is good for me," Alford said. "They have a history of people playing both sports there. Ole Miss also has someone right now that is playing both sports as well." Alford has only taken one official visit this year to the University of Nebraska. But, after the visit he decided that Lincoln, Nebraska was too far away from his family, so he has taken the Huskies out of the mix. But, there three of his four top schools are in his home state. "The Ole Miss campus is nice," Alford said. "They have a new coaching staff, but they are nice people that I am pretty comfortable around head coach Hugh Freeze even though I haven't known him for a long time. As far as Mississippi State, I like their offense and how head coach Dan Mullen uses his quarterbacks. Southern Miss is only 15 minutes away from where I live so all my family could see me play. I also really like the atmosphere there. I think Southern Miss would be a great fit for me." As far as how Alford said he would be making his decision Alford said it will just take time. "I'm going to pray about it and see which one is the best fit for me," Alford said. "(If I stay in-state) it will be very easy for my family to come see me in my home games. Then if it is an emergency I can just go home in less than four hours."
