"Ole Miss offered," said Kirk Landry, father of Davante' Bourque. "I talked to their linebackers coach on the phone, and then Davante' and I talked to Coach (Hugh) Freeze.
"The linebackers coach said they need a tailback and that Davante' can come in, compete, and play right away. He said to make sure I talked to Coach Freeze tonight (Wednesday)."
Landry, Bourque and Freeze spoke shortly thereafter.
"He said Ole Miss has been watching Davante'," said Landry. "He wanted to come as soon as possible for an in-home visit. He's coming Friday morning.
"Coach Freeze said, 'We want him and need him to step on the field next year for us.'"
Tennessee and Miami are the frontrunners for the former LSU commit, although Nebraska and
Arizona State - and now possibly Ole Miss - are also in the mix.
