Colton Scurry, center from Whitewater High School in Fayetteville, Ga., is garnering more and more interest as we get closer to Signing Day 2012. He has two offers in his possession (Presbyterian and Chadron College - D2), and several other schools have been in very close contact in the last week.

Last weekend Scurry took part in the North-South Georgia High School All-Star Game. He had a tremendous performance and more than held his own against several formidable defensive linemen. Two programs contacted him in a short amount of time after the game.

"I feel like I did very well in the practices leading up to the game," Colton Scurry commented. "I played with everyone there. I earned the starting position for the South Team for what I did in the practices leading up to the game.

"I started at center, and I played a lot in that game. I did real well. One of the D-lineman I went against had several offers. I feel like I did a great job against him. As far as any statistics I had in that game, I guess that I had three or four pancake blocks. And in pass protection I feel like I graded out at 100-percent. I feel like my pass protection was almost perfect in that game.

"Right after the game was over Eastern Kentucky called. I think there's a great chance they'll offer. Coach (John) Revere sounded really excited on the phone. I'm going on an official up there on the 27th (January).

"Coach (David) Bibee from Middle Tennessee called me the day after the game. They're gonna evaluate my highlight video and call me back tomorrow. Georgia Southern has called since then, and we're about to set up an in-home visit. I've also talked to Sam Houston State (will play for the FCS Title this weekend) since last Friday.

Scurry has tentative plans for his official visits.

"Right now I know I'll take an official to Eastern Kentucky on the 27th (January)," he said. "Sam Houston State will play in the title game this weekend, so on Monday I'll call them and set up a visit. And I plan to visit Middle Tennessee, Georgia Southern, and maybe Georgia Tech. I'll try to set up plans for official visits to those schools this weekend."

Scurry has garnered attention from several of the elite programs in the FCS (Sam Houston State and Georgia Southern to name a few), and a couple of FBS schools. A local BCS conference school has remained in contact with the hard-nosed center from Southwest Metro-Atlanta.

"The last time I talked to Georgia Tech they said I'm definitely on their board," he commented. "They said that I'm in the category of what Zach Laskey (Laskey was offered by Georgia Tech in December of last recruiting cycle) was last year. There's a chance that I could get a late offer from them."

Scurry plays in a region that is loaded with talent. Last season they had two four-star defensive linemen (Xzavier Dickson and LaMichael Fanning), a four-star safety in Corey Moore, and multiple three-star prospects.

This year the region boasts a five-star defensive lineman in Jordan Jenkins along with several three-star prospects. Scurry has faced his fair share of talent over the last two seasons. At season's end he brought home region honors for the second straight year.

"I was First Team All-Region (Region 3-4A) again this year as an offensive lineman, he said. "And then I made the All-Region Team. They had an offensive team and defensive team, then they broke that into an All-Region Team by specific positions. I was also First Team All-County (Fayette)."

There is one school that Scurry desires an offer from the most.

"I'd love an offer from Middle Tennessee," he commented. "I would probably commit if they offered. A big goal of mine is D1(A). I was at their camp last summer. The coaches talked with me personally several times during the camp. They invited me up for a game this year. They played (Georgia) Tech that day. I loved the atmosphere at the game.

"I like everything about Middle Tennessee. I've stayed in contact with them. If they offer I will probably commit to them."

Scurry will try a new sport this spring.

"I'm gonna do track this spring," he said. "I'll be throwing the shot put. I just wanna stay active, mainly. I'm right at 273 (pounds) right now. I wanna put on some more weight and work on my explosion."

Colton Scurry is one of the top centers in the state of Georgia. He's a hard-nosed interior OL who brings it on every single play. Scout.com will keep you updated on all the lastest news in recruiting.
