Tyriq McCord is a 6-foot-3, 220 pound defensive end out of Jefferson High School in Tampa, Fla. and he committed to Miami over South Carolina on Saturday inside the Alamodome.
He has visited UM and he likes the idea of playing on the same line as one of the top freshmen in the country.
"Anthony Chickillo is one of the best out there, so I am excited about playing with him. I think he can make me better when I get there," said McCord.
"I also like Miami's history. They have had a lot of great players like Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, and guys like that."
The four-star DE is from the Sunshine State and he picked UM over Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, and USC.
Scout's Take: McCord is still growing into his long frame and he is an athlete playing a little light on the defensive line right now. He has added about 15 pounds since last season and he will continue to get bigger. He is better rushing the passer than he is at stopping the run right now. He has long arms, he dips shoulder well off the edge, and he can pressure the quarterbacks well.
