SAN ANTONIO - Anthony Alford announced his decision on national television and he announced that he will stay in his home state.

Southern Miss is the school for Anthony Alford. It was back and forth all week on whether or not Alford would commit on Saturday, but he did, and he picked the Golden Eagles.

Alford is a 6-foot-1, 210 pound quarterback out of Petal, Ms. and he is also a baseball star on the high school level.

The four-star QB has taken official visits to LSU and South Carolina.

Scout's Take: Alford is an athletic quarterback with a live arm. He is able to make plays outside the pocket and his biggest plays come when plays break down. He needs to improve his mechanics, footwork and release specifically, and continue to mature when making decisions in the pocket.

Chad Simmons is currently a National Recruiting Analyst for FOX Sports/Scout. He started with Scout in 2003 and then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become South Recruiting Manager.
