LSU Commit Ready For Junior Day

Jeryl Brazil

National Signing Day for the '12 class hasn't arrived yet, but that won't stop LSU from focusing attention on '13 prospects. This weekend, the Tigers host their annual Junior Day that caters to in-state prospects. Jeryl Brazil, the LSU commit from Loranger HS, will be in attendance.

"I'm going to go have a good time and see some of the other guys," said Jeryl Brazil, the speedster from Class 3A Loranger High.

"I don't have anyone in mind that I'm going to help recruit. I'm going to meet some more players at the Junior Day, but I actually don't know any of them. I do talk to ('12 LSU commit) Kavahra Holmes on a daily basis."

Brazil and Holmes are both renowned sprinters.

"I had my first track meet last week," said Brazil. "It's the indoor season. I ran a 6.36 in the 55, which puts me first in the nation. Last year's best (in the country) was a 6.30. I'm trying to get down to a 6.2."

Loranger advanced to the second round of the playoffs last year with Brazil handling a number of chores, including running back, receiver, kick returner and corner.

"We had a good season but lost in the second round because of mistakes," said Brazil. "I have one more year and I'm looking forward to it."

The Wolves only dropped two games: a regular-season setback to subsequent state runner-up Amite, and a 14-13 loss to Port Allen in the postseason. Recommended Stories
