California quarterback Kelly Hilinski (Notre Dame Prep HS) may only be a junior, but he is already proving that the state's talent at his position is just as prevalent in the 2013 class.
Hilinski had a packed winter break, performing at three major combines (Under Armour, Proving Ground, and US Army) and is preparing for a busy off-season, including camps at USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oklahoma, and possibly Harvard, all programs he's been hearing from.
Not only does he possess a great frame (6'6", 220 lbs.), but Hilinski has also showcased a big arm and an ability to lead his team (8 passing TDs, 4 rushing TDs for almost 2000 yards this season). His on-the-field chemistry with junior running back Khalfani Muhammed made quite the statement and should last season be any indicator of the future, the duo will be a force to be reckoned with in 2012.
At this point in the recruiting process, Hilinski is unable to name a collegiate frontrunner, though he does know that strong academics will play a large part in his decision, as he currently plans to study medicine.
