Cincinnati St. Xavier was once again a playoff team in Ohio in 2011, and there is talent returning for the Bombers and head coach Steve Specht next season.
Garrett Campbell, 6-foot-4, 285-pounds, started at both guard and center last season for St. Xavier, and is a prospect of note in the 2013 class in Ohio.
"Last season was good for me, and I think I did pretty well," Campbell stated. "I played both center and guard, but I like playing guard the best. Next season, I will be playing wherever the team needs me, because I'm the only returning starter on our offensive line."
"My strength is as a drive blocker, where I can use my strength and quickness off the ball," he added. "I want to work on getting better with my balance, which helps in pass blocking."
As his junior film made the rounds, Campbell has started hearing from various college staffs, and his recruitment is starting to take off.
"I have heard from schools like Stanford, Princeton, Indiana and Boston College," he explained. "Stanford invited me to their game against Notre Dame last season, but I couldn't go because we were playing in the state semi-finals that day. I'm definitely interested in Stanford, and consider them one of the best programs in the country."
"I do plan on visiting Stanford at some point, to see the campus and check things out," he continued. "I'm also very interested in both Indiana and Boston College, but I don't have any plans to visit just yet. I feel playing at St. Xavier will prepare me to play at this level, because of the competition we go against every week."
