Germantown High (Philadelphia) cornerback William Parks
spent more than a few frustrating and anxious nights after the latest turnover coaching staffs at Pittsburgh
, but he is feeling better the last few days.
After not hearing from new coach Paul Chryst or his staff for weeks after they were hired, the Pittsburgh commit spoke with director of football operations Bob Junko and associate athletic director Chris LaSala in the last few days.
"I'm scheduled an official for this weekend, so I'm a little happier," Parks said. "They said there was a mix up with them not having my (contact) information.
"It was kind of a relief when they called. I was kind of (stressed). I just love football and love Pitt. I leave Friday and should be up there by 2 or 3 o'clock."
Parks, who is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, has been talking to Pittsburgh freshman Lafayette Pitts via social media and is also close with Pittsburgh red-shirt sophomore Devin Street.
He added the messages Junko and LaSala provided made him feel markedly better about his standing with the Panthers.
"They said they were going to show me how bad they wanted me there because of the mix up," Parks said. "Lafayette Pitts said they were going to show me a good time. I'm looking forward to it. It's a change for me and the family at Pittsburgh to get closer, and I'm looking for a better atmosphere than when I was there last time, and last time it was great.
"I will get to see what the classroom is like, and what the education is like, and have a good a good time."
Although Parks remains committed to Pittsburgh, the lull in contact after Todd Graham left allowed other schools to make contact with Parks, who is listening.
"Penn State actually called this week," he said. "Maryland and Rutgers are still calling. Stony Brook is still calling."
William Parks was frustrated Pittsburgh new staff hadn't reached out to him, but that changed for the Panthers commit this week. Now, the Germantown High (Philadelphia) cornerback is heading on an official visit to Pittsburgh this weekend, and he spoke to Scout.com about it.
