Will Hopkins Picks Air Force
AUSTIN, Texas -- Will Hopkins made his decision to play at Air Force today with a commitment to the Falcons. He had a tough decision to make but in the end he decided that it was in his best interest to play for Air Force. Hopkins, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound defensive athlete from Bowie High School in Texas, was one of the most highly rated players in Austin and could have had his choice of programs. Schools like Wyoming, Colorado State, SMU and Texas State all extended him scholarship offers before he narrowed down his list to a select set of schools. After much deliberation he decided that the the best fit for his talents was going to be in Air Force Academy, Colo. "I decided on Air Force because the education is almost impossible to beat," Hopkins said. "The coaching staff and the job security afterwards is great." Hopkins is a prospect who could play multiple positions on the next level. He played extensive reps on the offensive side of the ball at right tackle in high school, but has the potential to play multiple positions on the defensive side of the ball in college, making him one of the more versatile prospects in the Class of 2012. From multiple positions for Bowie (Texas) in 2011, Hopkins had 78 tackles at DE (17 solos, 11 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 4 tipped passes and 39 hurries-7 that resulted in interceptions). Hopkins started all 11 games at right tackle as well, and was a perfect 45/45 on long snaps. Hopkins made All-Centex at defensive lineman, First Team All-District at Defensive End, and Second Team All-District at Right Tackle. The top prospect also excelled in the classroom as an Academic All-District for the 5th straight semester and Academic All-State.
