Mike's Take: Marshall DB commit
What to Like: Andre Scott is a talented prospect from Oak Ridge High in Orlando. He played all over the field on the offensive side of the ball -- from quarterback to running back to wide receiver -- so that gives him a lot of versatility as a prospect. He threw for 430 yards but was actually the team's second leading quarterback. He finished with 300 yards receiving, showing off decent skills. At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, he probably projects best in the defensive secondary. He's a plus athlete with some ball skills and was recruited by a lot of schools to play free safety in college. What may concern you: If Scott ends up being a defensive back in college, he doesn't have much experience there. It's more of a projection than anything else. He has some size but lacks premier speed and elite level athleticism. That's why a lot of the major schools stayed away. Can he cover? Can he hit? Those are question marks that are there, although he seems to possess those skills. Bottom Line: With BCS offers from schools like Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Kansas, and Washington State, Scott was recruited like a low three-star prospect. Marshall has several Florida players on its current roster and they're getting a quality player in Scott.
