Howell (Mich.) junior tight end Pete Cender talks about getting the first offer.

Howell tight end Pete Cender has fielded interest from colleges since last spring, but he just received his first scholarship offer over the weekend, and was happy to see it come through.

"Western Michigan offered me. It feels good," he said. "To get the first one I've been waiting for, is great. I've been waiting and hopefully, other schools will come after that, but satisfied with the Western offer. I've been interested in Western, so it's a big deal to me."

As for checking out Kalamazoo, Cender said, "I haven't visited, but I'm most likely going to their junior day."

The Broncos' in-state rival may be next to offer.

"I met Central Michigan's running back coach. He visited me the same day Western did. I'm excited about CMU recruiting me as well."

Cender reports additional interest from Syracuse, Michigan State and a couple new programs who recently made contact.

"I got contacted by a Missouri coach who's from Michigan and told me to start looking at Missouri also Miami-FL."
