It was a good year in the Midwest, with several players finishing near the top of their national position rankings. Here is a look at the top 150 in the region and some of the storylines around the region this year.
Storylines
The Song Remains the Same
It was status quo, as from our initial Midwest 100 to this Midwest 150. The top seven players remained the same even though they changed order slightly. The region finished with those same seven as five-star prospects, and another 38 earned four-star status by Scout.com. As usual, the Midwest had the bigs. Six of the top eight players are linemen.
Buckeyes Land Top Two
Ohio State came away with the top two players in the region this year and both from their home-state, Cincinnati Taft defensive end
Adolphus Washington
(1) and Canton Glenoak running back
Brionte Dunn
(2). The last time any team did this was these same Buckeyes in 2008, when they signed Mike Adams and DeVier Posey.
Highest Ranked Non-BCS Commitments
Four players off to the MAC made the 150. Grand Blanc (Mich) safety
Jordan Fields
, a CMU commit, is the highest (77). Detroit Crockett (Mich) cornerback
James White
(123) and quarterback
Brian Blackburn
(149) off to Bowling Green and Toledo respectively made it with NIU pledge, O'Fallon (Ill) linebacker
Mike Cotton
(150). SMU has two players on the list, South Bend (Ind) Washington receiver
Gehrig Dieter
(92) and Oxford (Mich) linebacker
Prescott Line
(123).
Pools of Talent
Warren Central (Ind.) has the most players on the list with seven. They are followed by Lakewood St. Edward (Ohio) with five. Two programs, Cleveland Glenville (Ohio) and Detroit Cass Tech (Mich.) have four. Four schools check in with three: Indianapolis Pike (Ind.), Carmel (Ind.), Cincinnati Colerain (Ohio), and Farmington Hills Harrison (Mich.).
