Jake Meador, a one time Ole Miss commit, selected Wisconsin over Missouri and Florida. The offensive tackle took his time and made all of his visits before finally settling on the Badgers.
“I took all 5 of my official visits. The overall feeling when I got there went really well for me. That’s where I wanted to go and I wanted to be.”
Wisconsin had a bit of an ace in the hole with Meador. His relationship with his recruiting coach at Ole Miss, now at Wisconsin, helped seal the deal.
“The offensive line coach from Ole Miss that was recruiting me there is at Wisconsin now, so I knew him better than I knew a lot of the other coaches. I had that relationship with him before and that really helped out.”
The transition from Whiteland to Wisconsin shouldn’t be tough for Meador. Wisconsin football is similar to Whiteland’s in a number of ways.
“The overall offense is similar to my high school and a lot of the players were great. They’re a lot like my high school teammates. I’m a blue-collar guy and Wisconsin fits me well in that way.”
Wisconsin also got Meador’s fifth and final visit last weekend. His interaction with Wisconsin freshman tackle Tyler Marz made him feel at home in Madison.
“My host was Tyler Marz. He and I had a good time. He showed me around and made me get a good feel for Wisconsin.”
In the meantime, Meador is focusing on his current basketball season and his work in the weight room.
“I’m going to finish up basketball season and then do what I always do and work hard and get bigger, faster, and stronger.”
