Darian Claiborne has had quite a week on the recruiting trail.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder landed an offer from Texas A&M shortly after lunch last Friday and since then his offer total has grown significantly.
“He’s now got an offer from A&M, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas Tech, Minnesota, Tulane, Vanderbilt, UL-Lafayette and Western Kentucky,” said Port Allen head coach Guy Blanchard. “It’s been crazy around here with schools calling and tough to keep up with everything.”
Claiborne is slated to attend Texas A&M’s Junior Day on Saturday and there will likely be several more unofficial visits on the horizon.
“We are trying to get him out to as many schools as possible that are interested so he can have all of the information he needs to make an informed decision,” Blanchard said. “I know LSU wants us to come by next week and they are interested, and TCU wants him to come to their junior day next weekend so they can offer in person. Alabama is also showing interest and he wants to check them out too.”
As a junior, Claiborne collected 128 tackles, 12 quarterback hurries and forced five fumbles. He also passed for 1,640 yards and 17 touchdowns, and added 1,160 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.
