North Texas was the first program to offer Walker all-purpose star Carlton Perkins. The Mean Green, which signed multiple players from Louisiana this month, were no doubt impressed by Perkins' versatility.
The junior can play RB, WR or DB, and he spent much of last season at QB for Walker, which is a Class 5A school in southeast Louisiana.
Perkins ran for over 300 yards twice, and he nearly reached the 400-yard mark in one contest. At the close of the regular season, he trailed only Alex Johnson of Carencro on the state's leading rusher list.
Ole Miss, Missouri and Texas A&M are also showing significant interest, according to a member of Walker's coaching staff.
Perkins was invited to the Aggies' Junior Day this weekend, but he didn't receive the good news early enough to make arrangements to attend.
