While the Fighting Illini football team hasn't obtained a commitment yet, no surprise since 2013…
2013 linebacker Reggie Spearman of Chicago Simeon High had a busy Monday, starting off with the ‘Best of the Midwest' combine in Indianapolis. "It was great," Spearman said. "There were a lot of top guys in Indianapolis, but I had to come out and show them that Illinois has the best players." And that he did – Spearman received the Linebacker MVP at the end of the day. "I wanted it more than the other guys," Spearman said. "When I got there, I told the organizers that I was leaving with the linebacker MVP." He continued, "And I got it." After the combine, he headed to Ball State for an unofficial visit. "I got to spend about four hours at Ball State," Spearman said. "It was amazing being out there and getting a tour of the school." Spearman has one offer under his belt, from Ball State. "I also got to talk to the head coach," Spearman said. "As well as the other coaches, and they really want me there." But the Simeon standout isn't stopping there, he has another visit coming up quickly. "My next visit is to Purdue," Spearman said. "I am going the 25th." As the spring continues, Spearman will look to make headway towards a pretty tough decision. "I am going to pick my school in April," Spearman said of his timeline.
