Pelluer gets first offer

The Pelluer family has a long tradition of playing Division-1 football, and two years ago Cooper Pelluer continued that tradition by signing with Washington. Now Peyton Pelluer, a 2013 prospect from Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash. hopes to further pass on the Pelluer name.

With the help from a certain Pac-12 school, Pelluer has secured his first of what he hopes are many scholarship offers.

"Everyone is always waiting for that first offer, and hopefully this will help me get some momentum," Pelluer told Scout.com Friday after confirming his first offer, from the Colorado Buffaloes. "It definitely is an awesome feeling, and I'm very thankful."

Pelluer, who is currently on break from school, wasn't expecting much from a sleepy Friday morning, but Skyline Head Coach Mat Taylor got him up and going with some excellent news.

"Coach Taylor woke me up, gave me a call," Pelluer said. "He told me to call (CU linebackers) coach (Brian) Cabral . He knows my Dad (former Washington State player and Washington coach Scott Pelluer). At first he didn't answer, so I called back. He said that he liked the way I play and the whole coaching staff saw your tape and we'd like to offer you a scholarship.

"I was at a loss for words. I literally said I'm at a loss for words." After thanking coach Cabral, he told him that he's heard CU is beautiful and that he'd love to visit sometime. "It was awesome."

Pelluer is attending Junior Day over in Pullman Saturday, as he's hopeful the Cougars might be the next program to offer him a scholarship. "I talked to coach (Eric) Russell and the linebackers coach from WSU, coach (Jeff) Choate," he said. "They told me they like the way I play. I'm going over there tomorrow morning (for junior day). I'm hoping for some good weather. I'm excited."
