Brandon Wells profile
"Mississippi State offered me a few days ago," said Wells. "I talked with Coach Wilson on the phone and he told me that they were offering me a scholarship."
The news from Starkville was very well received by the BCHS star.
"I was really excited when he told me I had a scholarship," said Wells. "He told me to stay on my grades and that he wants to make a good score on the ACT.
"He talked to me about committing and how important that is, but he told me that he didn't want me to do it yet.
"He wants me and my family to come up there for junior day on the 31st, so we can talk about everything."
The Bulldogs' in state rivals have also recently stepped up their recruitment of Wells.
"I talked to Coach Heard on the phone and he invited me up to their junior day this past weekend," said Wells. "I couldn't make it because of the late notice.
"I was already scheduled to work and I couldn't find anybody to work in my place, so I couldn't go."
As things stand now, Wells is considering making an early decision.
"My mom was really happy about the offer from Mississippi State and my brothers were too," said Wells. "I like Mississippi State and I feel like that would be a good place to go.
"I am going to go to the junior day and see how things go and then I might make a decision after that."
Bogue Chitto is best known for inner tubing and water sports, but the Bobcats plays a pretty good brand of football. Junior standout Brandon Wells was the straw that stirred the drink last season and college coaches have taken notice. A few days ago, an SEC school stepped up and extended an offer to the talented Wells.
